Your Mediator:
John Powell, III, trained as both attorney and mediator, has been practicing in Texas, primarily in Brazoria and Harris Counties, for almost fifteen years. Highly educated, including the post-doctoral LL.M. degree, and possessing a broad background of personal knowledge, experience, and training, he continues to approach dispute resolution with a common sense, problem solving attitude. The point being to leave the mediation with an agreed-upon settlement agreement in hand.
John Powell, III has many years of experience being counsel on multiple jury and bench trials, on both sides of the bar. Many victories have been won for his clients, and a few defeats suffered as well, leading to a greater understanding of the real risks of proceeding to judgment by the arbitrary tribunal - whether that be judge, jury, or other official.
In his law practice, John Powell has represented family members in nearly every aspect of dispute, from contested adoptions of children, through divorce and child custody matters, to wrongful termination of parental rights. He has represented parties in property-division divorces with community estates valued at nearly a billion dollars.
Rounding out the practice and mediator's experience, John Powell, III has successfully represented clients through judgment and appeal in various aspects of contract disputes, business representation, and personal injury cases - again, on both sides of the bar.
